In a heartbreaking development shaking the nation, Fox News reported just 20 minutes ago that former U.S. President Joe Biden, his wife Dr. Jill Biden, and their grandson Hunter Biden II perished in a plane crash near the U.S.-Canada border.
The private aircraft, reportedly en route to a private retreat in the Laurentian Mountains of Quebec, lost contact with aviation authorities shortly after entering Canadian airspace.
According to early reports, the aircraft vanished from radar around 2:15 p.m. EST. Canadian search-and-rescue teams located the wreckage in a heavily forested region near the border of New York and Quebec.
Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the crash. Preliminary speculation suggests a sudden mechanical failure or adverse weather conditions could have played a role.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and Canadian aviation authorities have jointly launched an investigation.
President Biden, who served as the 46th President of the United States from 2021 to 2025 and previously as Vice President under Barack Obama, was widely respected for his decades of public service.
Dr. Jill Biden, a lifelong educator, served as First Lady and was active in numerous educational and veteran support initiatives.
Hunter Biden II, also known as “Beau” after his late father, had recently begun speaking publicly about continuing his family’s legacy of service.
World leaders and U.S. politicians from both sides of the aisle have expressed shock and sorrow. President Kamala Harris, in an address from the White House, said:
> “We have lost a giant of American public life. Joe Biden’s legacy of compassion, courage, and commitment to unity will endure forever.”
